Having the President of Ireland in my hometown of Kenmare for the unveiling of the War of Independence monument to remember the men & women involved in the Headford Ambush was a huge honour for the town. President Higgins also formally opened the Peninsula Park at the Pier in Kenmare and planted an oak tree. Mrs. Sabrina Higgins dedicated the Cumann na mBan park, a huge honour for the town as well.

Honoured to welcome Congressman Richard E. Neal, the Chair of the U.S. House of Representatives Ways and Means Committee and Chair of the Congressional Friends of Ireland Caucus to Seanad Éireann. Congressman Neal is the first member of the United States Congress to be invited in the 100 years of Seanad Éireann to address it. Ireland could not ask for a better friend than Congressman Neal, as he reiterated the United States’ support for the Good Friday Agreement.
WISHING A HAPPY POLISH CONSTITUTION DAY TO ALL POLISH PEOPLE LIVING IN IRELAND AND ACROSS THE WORLD FROM THE CHAIR OF THE SENATE
Seanad Éireann marked Polish Constitution Day by highlighting our shared national links and the Polish Irish diaspora. I was honoured to welcome the Ambassador from Poland, Her Excellency Anna Sochanska, to the House.
