Having the President of Ireland in my hometown of Kenmare for the unveiling of the War of Independence monument to remember the men & women involved in the Headford Ambush was a huge honour for the town. President Higgins also formally opened the Peninsula Park at the Pier in Kenmare and planted an oak tree. Mrs. Sabrina Higgins dedicated the Cumann na mBan park, a huge honour for the town as well.
